Metribuzin for Ryegrass & Wild Radish Control in Wheat

Because so many farmers are having difficulty controlling Italian (annual) ryegrass in wheat with Hoelon (diclofop-ethyl) interest in using Sencor (metribuzin) for control of annual ryegrass is increasing.

Control of both annual ryegrass and wild radish can be good with metribuzin, depending on weed size and environmental conditions. Ideal conditions are warm (not hot) periods with adequate soil moisture for optimum wheat and weed growth. Maximum weed control with minimum crop injury will occur when rainfall after application is sufficient to activate the herbicide, but not heavy enough to excessively leach the herbicide into the wheat root zone.

  • A nonionic surfactant can be used, but is not required.


  • Do not use crop oil concentrates.
